- To be treated as a co-worker.
- To be given suitable assignment with a written position description.
- To learn about the organization.
- To have insurance coverage while performing volunteer duties.
- To receive an orientation and training for the volunteer position and opportunities for continuing education.
- To be given sound direction and guidance.
- To have regular evaluations of his or her performance.
- To apply his or her skills and have a variety of experiences.
- To be employed in tasks suitable to his or her physical and intellectual capacities.
- To benefit from advice and training.
- To be shown gratitude for a job well done.
- To be given the opportunity to make suggestions and ask questions in the organization.
- To be recognized.
- To be treated with respect.
Volunteer Responsibilities

- To suggest changes or improvements.

Rights of Staff
- To decline any volunteer thought unsuitable.
- To expect that the volunteer will complete the assignment accepted.
- To give instructions as to how the work is to be done.
- To give the volunteer a trial or probationary period.
- To evaluate the volunteer’s performance.
- To demand quality performance.
- To report problems and progress to person who coordinates volunteers.
- To schedule volunteers when work space is available.
- To own opinion on the merit of volunteer involvement.
- To be respected and trusted as a colleague.
Responsibility of Staff
- To make all necessary qualifications known ahead of time.
- To provide for adequate time and training for each assignment.
- To make sure the volunteer understands the task.
- To set and maintain standards.
- To provide feedback in constructive terms.
- To allocate supporting resources; give recognition for work done.
- To keep good communications with the volunteer program office.
- To provide adequate pleasant work space.
- To not over generalize about volunteers.
- To respect and trust volunteers in return.
